Al Gore's climate project comes down under
Former US Vice President Al Gore is set to visit Brisbane in June 2019, to provide Climate Reality Leadership Corps training to a select group of individuals from around the world.
The training, now in its 13th year, was established by the Climate Reality Project, a non-profit organisation involved in climate change education founded by Al Gore.
Over the three days of training, a team of world-class scientists, policy-makers, communicators and experts will provide the latest science of climate change and give delegates the necessary skills to inspire action on climate change.
The upcoming Brisbane event has an Australasian focus, with topics including: holding global warming to 1.5°C; the economic opportunities from growing clean economies and a just transition; indigenous and diverse communities; the marine environment; human health and resilience.
Applications to the Climate Reality Leadership Corps closed in April and Oxygen Consulting’s Sarah Holden is one of the New Zealand individuals who has been selected for the training.
“I am both humbled and excited to have been accepted into this programme. It will be a real honour to hear from Al Gore and the team of experts in the Climate Reality Project. I am looking forward to the global network of people I will connect with and utilising what I learn to support my clients’ climate change activities”, says Sarah.
